Default Cadet 268 blower.

I finally managed to find a Cadet 268 snowblower, it looks to be in good condition and complete. The owner says it doesn't have spark and the tank has a bit of rust in it neither of which really concern me, the guy that owns it says he has to go away for a while but when he returns will give me a call, hopefully his "while" isn't to long. Since the 268 is a 2 stage blower can I assume they work ok? There's only a couple videos on YouTube and none of them show it in action.

I'm jealous Tim! I've been watching for one for a long while. Passed on one last winter cause Lew said it was too high. They are an Ariens machine with Cub paint and decals. Two stage, so it will work as well as the little motor can throw it.

Don't be jealous yet, it's not at my house and for all I know this guy will sell it out from under me.

Back in the day when I lived in the snowy north I had a Yamaha 828. Thing would eat 2' deep snow like nothing.

That's cool Sam but it's not yellow and white. in all the years I've had to maintain my own driveway there's only ever been one time that there was to much snow for a cub to handle, luckily my Dad still had a plow on his truck at the time. This will just be another piece to my collection that may come in handy every once in a while.

I remember seeing it but figured it was to far away, I'm sure shipping through fastenal would have been around $150. The one I found is about 15 miles from me and he's willing to trade for cub parts.

I saw one of those for sale around here awhile back. Only wanted $75. I like my 420 cub cadet blower though, it's 2-stage and does a nice job. Had an old cub dealer try and buy it off me and get me to buy a new Honda snowblower instead. Nope no deal.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
