Default 1650 frame alignment

I recently purchased a 1650 sight unseen. My main purpose was as a parts machine, but it runs fairly well. So, I am thinking about fixing it up rather than my 129, which isn't running. While looking it over this weekend, I noticed that the right side of the frame is about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch higher than the left side. It is noticeable to the naked eye from the rear of the machine. I measured all down the frame tonight on a level surface and it is consistent from front to back, so I don't think the frame is twisted. I have never split a wide frame, so I am unfamiliar with the frame to differential setup. Is it possible that there is enough play in the bolt holes to create this much of a difference?

Did you check to make sure they are tight, first? All tires the same pressure?

Might check to see if the bolts through the frame, axle tubes and into the rear end are there and not missing or broken off. Not an uncommon situation.

Haven't put a wrench to them yet. I'll check that when I can get to it. The tire pressure was the first thing I checked and corrected.

They all seem to be there, not sure of the tightness of them.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Are the tires a matched set? Check the overall height of the tires. To be that far off I would think the holes would have to be pretty worn on one side of the tractor.

If any of the 6 mounting bolts are loose, they will wallow out the frame holes, which can't be good. I saved a nice 1450 from the scrap yard, that leaned heavy to the right. The "z" bracket was snapped. This bracket is a mount to the frame from the right front side of the transmission.

Posting any pictures help, and we'd love to see your 1450!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
