Default Orphans found a home

Some days are good and this was a good day I think. But for the price and a 300 mile round trip I couldn't resist. The PO an eldery gentleman who is in bad health, had these listed on craigslist. I called him and struck up a lengthy conversation. The more we talked the more I could tell he was lonesome and was really enjoying our conversation, as was I. He told me of his family and how since his wife had passed and most his old friends were gone it was really good to just talk to someone. We finely got around to the tractors and he told me they had been sitting for 4 to 5 years. Before his health declined he used both of them. He was trying to get rid of some of stuff he had collected over the years. I told him I would come and look at them and maybe take them. When I got there the conversation began again and after a couple of cups of coffee and a couple of hours of chatting we agreed on a price. I know this is a long story but I felt compelled to share with you guys. I'm pretty close to 68 years old and I have always loved talking to the older fokes and admiring there wisdom. He reminded of my granddad that passed when I was 14 years old. If anything I feel I have made another friend and that's always a plus. Here are some pics of the tractors they are a 129 and 108 all complete with decks. I could turn the engine by hand. They look a little rough but so did I when I was 45 years old.

Good story and nice red and green stripe, now you need a blue! I made a friend with a 91 year old man and it's always good to talk and to hear his stories as well. Bama doesn't look like it treated them too badly, not bad at all

It's always nice to make a new friend, and it looks like you also got a couple new buddies out of the deal.

I tinkered with the orphans today. The 108 started right up and ran like a singer sewing machine. The 129 might need a little more tinkering can't seem to get to fire. But I have time.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
