Default 1650 Hydro leak

Howdy all,
So it has been a long time since I have been on here. I have a few questions about the hydro on my cub cadet 1650. It has developed a leak on the hydro pump by the shaft that is coming out of the side. opposite of the speed controls. I have attached pictures. It started when I was going high speed for about 15-20 minuets. I was pulling a small trailer with my two buys in in.

Does anyone know if I have to split the pump open or can I just replace the seal with minimal disassembly. I looked for a thread on this but I was unable to find exactly what I was looking for.

I was also wondering if that seal is gone what other seals should I do while I'm in their.

My last question has to do with the tag on the pump. How would I identify this pump and what do all of the numbers mean.

The red circle is where the leak is coming from. So I have to split the case open in order to replace it. BOOOOOOOO. Are their any links on how to do this.

Looking at this picture you apparently have more to take care of unless my eyes trick me...

You can replace the leaking seal without splitting the pump. You also should rebuild the trunnion area as OldSkull mentioned. That said as soon as you fix one leak others will follow. If it's leaking on one side it won't be long till it leaks on the other side. Life sucks, your tractor is old and it wants new seals and gaskets.

Replace the seal that is leaking, it is the easy one, no disassembly of the hydro needed.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Do repair your trunnion, and, it would be nice if you had 2 release valves that were automatic, not just one.

That is great news to hear Yahoo. I am in the process of rebuild my relief valves and I was going to get new springs and get that fixed. I am also going to replace the fan and do a good cleaning. Thank you very much for the input. Ill be sure to put an update when I'm done.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
