The pictures were great an I was able to get it hooked up correctly. My next issue is getting it to respond to the throttle cable in a consistent manner. It starts an idols great. As you increase the throttle it does nothing until almost at the full open and then wants to run at a high RPM. When you idle it down the governor arm is not going back to idle. You can manually push it to idle without any trouble.

You have to adjust the governor. Did you do that? Sounds like you didn't. It's in the service manual how to do that. Do you have a copy of the manual?

I do have the manual and was reading up on that to do next. I have been extremely lucky over the years and never had engine issues to deal with. Although this is a very minor issue it is the first Original I have ever bought with the intentions of keeping and wanting to use it. I will attempt the governor adjustments today.
It is a 1963, second owner, and came with the original owners manual. It was bought with lights, fenders, mower deck, blade, and #1 cart. All are in very good condition. I have always been a fan of the WF hydros but really thought the original's are the best looking. I'll post some pictures on the site later today. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
