Default 104 seat

Would the white rubber seat be correct for a 104 or did cub start putting the fiberglass seat on both the 10 and 12hp tractors with the 1x4/5 series? I did a google search and everything that showed up was either the fiberglass seat or an aftermarket seat.

My 104 has a fiberglass seat bucket with a white, moulded seat pad. In the family since new. I have another 104 with the same seat.

The white rubber seat was only correct for the 102 and maybe a handful of 123s possibly. I've never seen a 123 with one but its rumored a few escaped the factory like that.

Edit: While not correct, it would be better than a black seat IMO, and wouldn't stop me from doing it.

That's what I figured, thanks. I have a 104 with a plow I'm gonna get running to take out to my mother in law's to plow with, I don't really want to haul any of my cubs on an open trailer in the winter so I figure building one to leave out there would be easiest.

IMO, I think a rubber seat would be warmer to use in the winter than the vinyl and certainly warmer than the metal one! I have used all three and it "feels" warmer on the rubber seat than the others......I'm sure that will illicit a lot of comments from my fella cubbers, but I dish it out so I will take it, too.

No dish today. I think that rubber seat is the most comfortable one i ever sat in. Better than the padded ones, could use a back though. Mike

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
