As the saga of the 1450 oil leak turns... I'm ready to reassemble. So, regarding the valve cover/breather and carb gaskets - do I put anything on them? Soak them? Do anything other than put them into place and bolt down what sits against them?
Thanks, -Calvin |

Fuel delivery gaskets? no.
As far as the valve cover gaskets go, I've had no leaks installing them dry. |

It's probably not the "proper" thing to do, but I skin coated all the gaskets for my valve cover/breather with permatex gasket light blue stuff. All except the one that mated to the block. That way, hopefully it will all stick together if I need to adjust the valves, but it won't stick to the block. My luck the only gasket that will stick is the one that's nearest the block...
Carb gaskets, put them on dry.

A trick we use on the race car, is chapstick on the carb gaskets. It allows you to reuse the gaskets over, and over as long as you do not over tighten them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
