Intended on working on my LoBoys but I made a barter deal last weekend and Ive been busy with this Allis Chalmers 917H... I traded away a working Noma lawn tractor with 46" deck and parts tractor, total investment $125..... I brought home an AC917H, an ATV mower deck, a beat up dump cart, and a hood for a JD STX38.... the 917 is now running and mowing, and the cart has wheels, havent checked out the atv deck yet. I have a buyer lined up needs the JD hood.

Very cool. The 917 is the equivalent to the 682/782 I think. Very good deal.

The cart is the only thing I plan to keep out of the deal, the rest will be sold to re-plentish the tractor fund
![]() Ive never driven a 682/782 and Im not brand bias so I wont try to compare them but I do like this tractor although its a bit big and heavy for a lawn mower, even tho I do like Simplicity decks quite alot, they all seem to leave a very nice finished cut. Would be really nice if I could find a blower or tiller for it before it goes up for sale. Hope to get the ATV deck fired up this weekend.... it has a quick release system that attaches to the front of a quad, it could likely be mounted to a tractor easily enough as long as the tractor has enough front end weight for steering control

Made alot progress on this 917 lately, fabricated a lower sleeve arm, completely rewired the tractor, replaced a deck bearing, and today I picked up a snowblower for it. Still some minor stuff to do but its a nice working machine now.
...and NO the blower and deck are NOT both mounted... I just lined up the blower to be sure its the correct model for the tractor... it is

Mowed with it awhile today, dont think I would ever get used to having the discharge out the left side.... its just weird.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
