Default 782 Auction Buy

Attended an auction over the weekend. PO had several Cubs for sale. Sale bill listed a nice Super 1872, but the family changed it's mind and it didn't sell. There was an IH built 682 (with rear end removed) and a 782.

Tractor is a non-runner. Has the 50C deck, dual hydraulics, rear lift and the coveted IH hub caps. Engine needs further inspection; had the right head off which could be a simple blown head gasket, or something more serious inside the engine. We'll see.

I've been shopping for a black, plastic hood ornament for my other 782 for about 2 years now. Can't find them for less than $30.

Bought this 782 for $45.

Even has the rear lift that seems to be so hard to find for that model, I hope you had your mask on.

Super buy!! Less than 1/10 of what it typically goes for and with all of the extras. Nice find.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
