Default My 107 project

I bought this cub cadet 107 4 days ago. So far, I changed engines. The old k241a blew oil and had a rod knock. I swapped it for another K241 that came with the tractor. I got it running really well. I rebuilt the carb, and set it. Put in a new spark plug, gapped the points, new air filter and pre filter, and fresh Kohler SAE30 weight oil mixed with a little Lucas stabilizer. The hydrostatic unit works as it should. I even replaced the wiring harness came with a new one. It also came with new choke cable. I degreased everything and power washed it when the engine was out and greased up steering box too. Now I'm looking for mower deck parts. It needs a center spindle and right spindle. I'm $300 into this unit already. Were these pretty heavy duty from the factory? How hard is it to find parts? Hopefully i didn't waste $300. All I know is I made pretty good progress on it so far for not even owning it for a week lol. Also nice I have a spare generator and engine going to rebuild it. Eventually want to buy the headlight kit and start repainting it bring it back to factory but want to get it mowing again first. So how do you guys think I did for $300?

Looks like a good tractor, I think you will enjoy using it enough that the money you have put into it will be forgotten. Price a new tractor with similar features and ask yourself what would it look like in 50yrs?

Looks better than the lawn turd 107 I've been working on.
See you're from the Badger state as well. How far from Gillett? Might be able to set you up on some spindles for your deck. "MIGHT".

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
