Default Need some opinions - poll

Like the title reads I'm needing an opinion. I have a chance to get a 2182 which comes with a deck and then either a blade or blower. In yall opinion, which would you choose?

While my 680 isn't quite in the same leage as the 2182 you might be getting, I do believe the plow is more versatile for things other than snow i.e. dirt moving. That said, I love my thrower and how "neat" it keeps the drive when the snow flies.

Since I've got plenty of opinions, and I guess we live in a similar climate zone
I say blade cause of its versatility

A blower is nice when you get a lot of snow, but 3/4 of the time this year I used the blade because it wasn't really enough to throw. Plus the blade can be used year round for dirt and other things.

Just my 2 cents.

Heck get the whole package if you can then you have the best of both worlds.

I've got both snow blade and snow blower for my 1863. In a heavy wet snow, the blade is good to a maximum snow depth of about 6". At that point, the snow pushes the blade and tractor sideways. The snow blower is slower than a blade, but can handle 12" snow. The blower is very heavy to mount and move around when off the tractor. Both will require weight on the rear and chains. Traction is limited in the snow. Sometimes I add extra wife weight to the rear weight rack. She makes a big difference. I usually use the blade, but have had to change to the blower during a snow storm. The snowblower is limited by the feed rate (forward speed) and motor horsepower. It will fully load the 18 horsepower Kohler

Personally, I have both because they both came with my 169 and I use both, but if I was in your shoes... It's hard to say. The blower stays on all winter and does most of the work, but if a really heavy, wet storm happens the blower sure doesn't work as well. It fights its way through, and I don't bother swapping to the blade, but it doesn't throw it very far. I have an Earthcavator for grading, so I don't use the front blade for that, but if I had to choose one I'd go with the blade. If I got a whole lot more light, deep snow I'd probably lean towards the blower, but the simplicity for maintenance/repair combined with the versatility makes me feel like you'd be happier with the blade even though it will take a little longer to clear off small amounts of snow. Versatility and seat time, right?

I live in SE MI. We get snow, but not feet at a time. (this last winter, not that much at all.) I have a 147 with a blade and it´s perfect. I can push snow/ice/etc no problem. I can use the blade during other seasons as well. I like that I can move snow without going WOT like I´d have to with a thrower. The blade is faster for my application. If I ever needed a blower, I know enough people that can move the snow that the blade won´t do.

For wet snow and windy days the blade is your best bet, I hate been transform in a snowman because I can't not always avoid the wind who blow back that white $h. at me.

Ps: Best set up= One tractor with a snow blower and another one with a blade! Choose your weapon!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
