Default 44" deck speed up pulley

Hi, I have a 1450 with a 44" deck and I am looking for a speed up pulley. I have looked online and they are not stocked or made anymore. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find one?

First, welcome to OCC.....

There is NO such thing as a "speed up" pulley for the 44/50 series mower decks. There is nothing in any Cub Cadet material stating so.

HOWEVER.......People have found, that using pulley IH-126393-C1 gives greater tip speed. That part is OEM specific and is still available.

That parts number you listed is no longer available. I have checked all over online. I was just wondering if there was a different options available.

If that is what you are interested in, then a search for a good used or a NOS pulley will be needed.

Yeah that's the problem. There all sold. Guess I'll keep my eye peeled for a used one. Has anyone ever tried to just put a smaller pulley on from a parts store?

Isn't there a different belt listed in the CC book to use with the "speed up" pulley. Seems like I have seen that listed?

Many years ago when I got my first 44" deck, my IH parts guy put me on to the pulley (and said it was used on later decks) and gave me the needed belt to match.

Not arguing 'cause you're probably a parts type expert. Just checking my memory.

Since the pulley is a one piece unit you would have to get 2 pulleys of the right diameter, bore, belt pitch, and key size. You would have have some spacers between the pulleys and possibly underneath the bottom pulley to make sure everything is in the original alignment.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
