Well I had a really bad night last night...
My father and I were attempting to take apart my hydro pump cause when we took it off the rear end the matting face was all oxidized and dirty looking. I didn't want all that ending up inside the pump so i figured we would split it clean it up and throw it back together. Things did not pan out that well. this is where the night in the garage ended. Figure no more damage needed to be done in one day.

Looks like you drove the pins out of the swash plate too far. There is a note in the service manual about just how far to drive them so that you don't do that. Take the case to a good welder and have the hole fixed, no big deal.

Yeah i am probably going to see about talking it to a weld shop and having them patch it, or just take the rear housing off one i have around as a spare. Just figured i would share my arrow.
![]() ![]() ![]() Sam I hope this doesn't offend you, but why haven't shared the little golden piece of info in the technical library section. I looked through there multiple times and haven't seen anything about taking the hydro pump apart. Think that putting that in there will save other from my mistake.

http://ccmanuals.info/pdf/1x6-7%20Service%20Manual.pdf You'll find the hydro service info on pages 2-45 through 2-54, the part about the pins is on page 2-52 Later hydros used 2 pins on the control trunnion and that's what I posted. Early hydros only used 1 pin but no mater you only drive the pin into the shaft and then you can pull it out. Read the manual and then read it again. They are not all that hard to work on but you need to do it by the book. Also any dirt in the wrong place and you will have a failure. I see that you didn't bother to clean it first and that concerns me.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
