Default More on my 123

Well I did a carb rebuild today and the good news is it runs, need to make some small adj. and it will be running fine.
The bad news is I have oil coming out around the front seal when it is running.
So I get to pull the motor and replace the seals, as long as I have it apart what more should I look at/replace, I want to go though the motor only once so now is the time to do it right.
I don't know jest how long this cub had been setting before I got it but it must have been a long, long time.
The PO got it used and could not recall jest when that was, but he told me he didn't pay much for it at the time.
I got it for $150.00 with newer tires and new pant and the rest of what I want to do I am looking at a nice machine for less then a new one.
Thanks for your help,
Joe

Are you talking about a complete rebuild or cleaning adjusting and sealing it up?

You can get new seals HERE

Mr. Sam,
Sorry it has taken me this long to get back to you, been reading and then rereading the book to see the steps needed to change the oil seal. After all that I may pull the motor and have the CC shop near me do the work, I have no way of knowing the state of the motor, and don't want to get to the point of taking it to them as a box of mixed parts.
I have made my living for the last 45+ years working around all types of machines and use to farm with a H, M, supper M, an old F20, and a 706. But not had much time with the small ones, I know I could do the work myself but right now I don't have the time or space to take the motor apart and see what more needs repairing.
Will be calling the CC shop to see what there going rate is and about how long they would take to turn it around.
I still have lots of other things that I can be working on before I would need the motor back, I know the trans works ( it moves front and back when I tried it under power) like it should. But I want to clean it up, change the oil and filter, adj / replace the brakes, the front end needs work, tires on the back end, ect, ect, ect. .
Then there is the new paint and all that goes before and after that. so I think I would come out money ahead to pay to have the motor done right the first time around.
Thank you for the links as I have added them to my growing file of all things Cub.
Have a good night

Joe

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
