On my cub 127 I want to take the breather apart and make sure it's assembled the right way. I'm sure by other things on the tractor that it's installed with the oil seep hole on the top instead of the bottom. Anything to lookout for with this process or is it pretty much just pulling the nut off and taking a look? Thanks

It's pretty straightforward. You might have to pry or tap the cover a bit to get it loose after the nut is off. I've had a few stick. Then just pay attention to the order and orientation of the parts. Snapping pics is a good idea

In this instance the service manual is your best friend for disassemble as well as assembly.
I would just add that when you tighten the nut on the breather cover, don't over tighten as it could possible distort the cover.

So do u have to remove parts from the engine to get the breather off? I was looking at it today and it looks like a bunch of stuff is in the way. Lol. Gonna tackle it Tuesday when I'm off.

you'll probably have to remove the carb. I don't know your model exactly but that's my guess.

Well I got the breather off with the carb still on. The oil drain hole was plugged so hopefully that solves my breather smoke problem. Had to order a new gasket though for the cover so I'll have to wait for it to arrive before I can try it out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
