Default How to properly service the Hydrostatic Drive???

I am sure this has been covered 1000 times but I couldn't find anything when searching the forums. What is the proper way to service the Hydrostatic drive on my 782. I bought the fluid and the filter from the Cub dealer yesterday but I am not exactly sure where to empty it and where to fill it and if it is possible to over fill it? I would rather look like a Dumb A%$ than mess it up so I had to ask. Thanks ahead of time.

You need to remove the rear plate to drain the fluid. While you are in there, be sure to clean out all the sludge with some brake/carb cleaner. You will need to make another trip to the deal and get a gasket for the rear cover. You fill it to the bottom of the plug in the rear cover.

Gaskets for a farmall cub rear end(same thing as in a cub cadet) are about $7.00. Be sure to get all of the old gaskets off both surfaces, abd I always use a bit of form-a-gasket on both sides too

If your 782 is CCC built and has an Aluminum Rear End, then the fill is via a "dipstick tube" underneath the seat.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
