Default Bolens 800

Hey guys I figured I'd ask the question what do you think about this bolens 800. I know I know it's not a yellow mean machine but I came across this on the old inter webs and seemed to be a good price for it. Doesn't run but everything is all there. The guy said the motor is good so I'm taking his word on it but I'll do more investigating if I go look at it. I don't know a lot about the bolens tractor but looks cool funky tractor. Let me know what you all think. $200 for both.

Ya I didn't want to have to make an account to a different forum. Just trying to see if anyone on here has one or knows anything about them.

I know nothing about Bolens machines, including the model numbering system.

However, my Fathers best friend had an older model, probably early mid 70's, I don't know what model number it was either. He mowed about 1/2 acre and he used that thing for-friggin-ever! He was also a very large heavy man. He used it in the winter to push snow with as well.

That said, I believe the older ones held up pretty well.

That's all I know about that.

Bolens made good equipment in the '60's-'70's. We had a couple of them at home, one rider, one tractor. Next door neighbor had one about like what the OP is showing here. He ran it for years, wore the engine out, rebuilt it and used it a couple more years before getting rid of it.

the down side to the Bolens is they used Wisconsin or Tecumseh engines. Wisconsin is just expensive or NLA with parts and allot of the Tecumseh stuff is NLA.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
