Default Cub Cadet Original generator
I think my generator on my Original is crapping out. It'll spin fine with the belt off but when I put the belt on and tighten it it won't hardly spin the motor. I know the battery is good, I actually tried two different ones just to be sure. Does anyone know if I can get a new generator anywhere?

Not to say your 50+ year old generator isn't crapping out, but what is the condition of your battery cables? If you have a bad cable/connection/ground somwhere it can operate as you describe. You can bypass the wiring harness with jumper cables. Be sure it's in neutral, key off. Jumper cable ground to the engine block, touch the positive jumper cable to the generator terminal with the heavy battery cable connected. IT WILL SPARK, be careful. If it spins normal, you have a bad cable/connection. If it's still sluggish it's the generator. If it were mine, I'd find a local automotive electrical company to rebuild it vs buying a new one.

As another suggestion, I would take the S/G off, and take it to a reputable Repair Shop for testing and analysis. If they find some issue(s), then get it repaired. By doing so, you we be farther ahead than buying any of that new Chinese Junk you see all over the internet.

The one wire coming from the field to the one post coming through the casing is broken and it would spin pretty good with no tension on the belt but as soon as I put tension on it again it wouldn't spin. The battery is brand New like two weeks old
