Default Cub Cadet 1806

i found a cub cadet 1806 the other day. its pretty well shot...probably just a parts machine. no motor, 3200 hours on the hour meter

how many of these things were made? just wondering if itd be worth it to fix it. i was going to buy it, rip the aluminum creeper out of it, get the grill, lights, grill housing and hood and send the rest off to the scrap yard. anyone got any info on this thing? i got it for $50.

also, got a 1872 for $200 that needs body panels so another reason to buy the 1806

The 1806's are rare, I would not part it out. It would definably be a keeper.

It would be a keeper, they are rare. It's not as rare as the 912 at the top of the page, but still rare.

If it's just a parts machine (your words) I'd strip it to fix your other Cub and sell or scrap the rest. You'll end up with more money in it than it's worth. Rare does not mean valuable. You can't save them all.

Looks like they are getting rarer by the day.

thats the plan for it as of now...strip it, scrap it, and give the rest of the parts to the 1872 because the 1872 IMO is worth more than the 1806 to me at least.

now one more question....do these aluminum creepers work on anything gear drive? say a 100 or 122 or just specific gear drive cubs?

I bought a super nice 1535 awhile back. It's the Cyclops version of the 1806. Probably just about as rare. I put out a feeler here if anyone wanted to buy it after I removed the plastic and the M 18. Lot's of responses that the tractor was rare. Don't strip it but nobody offered to buy it! Rare maybe but evidently not too valuable.

I would have liked to buy it BEFORE you striped it. I'd say that's the reason why you couldn't sell it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
