Going after work to look at a "1971 10hp" GD Cadet and a "nearly new" CC front snowplow/blade. '71 was the NF-WF transition year, correct? Wish me luck, seems hard to find anything CC around here, and I have missed the few things that were around. Really want the blade but he says he will make me a deal on both. What is it with these things? My spouse is gonna kill me if I bring home another one....

You have to make up rules and then follow them.
Some of my rules are, No more 7 hp Cubs, unless they are a 73. No more 10 hp Cubs unless they are a 100. No more Hydro Cubs unless they are a 169 or unless they are equipped with cool options. No more Gear Drive Cubs unless they are equipped with cool options or unless they are another 128 that I am looking for (might settle for a 108). Since I'm not really into anything newer than the 1X8/9 series none of the others are really a problem for me. Then again, I would like to have a Diesel and a Super...

When I was leaving he expressed interest in some NOS 63-66 Chevy truck bumper guards I own....this 104 has a deck, guess its a 42 has the 1 long blade 2 short. He doesn't know if the blade fits NF or WF, as he has a 1650 and he bought it all together. Blade looks to never been used, but has some rust from lying out. Tractor won't start, he had a test light on it-had juice steady on both sides cranking so points not working.
Dang129 sheared the drive pin on the engine side, must be mad at me. |

He cleaned the points still no start. Loaded it up, got home, put in a new H10 plug fired right up and ran, needs carb bushing and gov adjusted. PTO pulley is loose.
Battery is up, as are all tires, dry rotted, original tires on it. Engine rebuilt last year, he sez. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
