86 hood springs
Guys I'm trying to get my 86 hood matched up to the console, and I can't figure out what is going on with the springs on either side of the pedestal. The way they are if I push the hood down on them the back end of them lifts up and against the back side of the console cover. I'm trying to figure out if they are installed wrong, or damaged or what. They just don't make sense to me they way they are. I looked in the wideframe manual but couldn't find anything. I also looked up on parts tree but they aren't illustrated. Thanks

You may have to bend the tabs that stick out or move the hood back slightly.Most times you have to make sure the springs are as far down on the side of the dash tower

Can someone explain how they work? I've never figured them out either. Maybe I'm overthinking it?

Ok, i've got it right here, these are hood hold down springs? Close the hood & lift up the back part behind the console & latch them into the tab? Gotta be to keep hood from rattling?
