This is what happens when you use a bolt instead of a pin.

I never had any luck with those pins. I even bought a new slotted collar, driveshaft and I would still snap pins. I have a crossbreed 1650 with a 10HP in it and was using the wrong driveshaft for the 1650. I was using the same setup that Amigatec has pictured.
When I switched to the 1650 set up, there isn't any 'kickback' in that slot, 'cause there isn't a slot. If it keeps breaking, I would think about doing something different. |

Lmercer-
The reason you were breaking all of those pins was because that is the wrong driveshaft for a 1650. That hardened pin doesn't like to flex, and trying to make it act like a flex coupler on a rubber mounted engine is just going to make it break. |

Thanks Matt. If I understand you right, you only use that set up on a solid mounted engine?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
