Default Brand new LTX1040 for $977

This is why folks that need a simple mower will go to Home Depot. $1499 at the dealer, $977 at our local Home Depot. My son in-law bought one a week ago for $1177 so he will get $200 back.

Throw a 10% movers coupon and another 10% off a gift card at it and you got a slick deal.

And this is why i dont buy them. I mowed with it for 15 minutes today and noticed that i was getting beat to death. Its so light that you feel every bump and bigger bumps provide bigger jolts. No thanks! I removed the deck to put new Gator blades on it to take care of the leafs and noticed that the deck must have weighed about twenty pounds and looked just like a Craftsman deck. Oh well, you still get what you pay for.

That is obviously not a flaw with the tractor but a flaw with your yard, you should not have any bumps. Also the deck is specifically engineered to be light and provide the best fuel economy.

Hope my reality distortion field can be as strong as Steve Jobs' one day

Excellent response.
I suggested he check the air pressure in the tires. Maybe run them a little softer to reduce the bodily beating. I noticed that this "beating option" was not mentioned in the manual that came with this mower.

I would suggest this particular mower be purchased only by younger people with far fewer bodily pains that most over 60 people seem to have. I speak of myself at this point and do not indicate any such bodily pain on any other member.

Not a bad deal if all you want is a mower or cart puller. But I think I'll stick with my older models, thank you very much; this guy below serves me very well Guess they need to make room for those fancy new Enduro models coming in

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
