Harvest: Lets hear about it!!
How is harvest going in you guys area? I want details! Moisture, yeilds.... It should be pretty cool to see how the different areas of the country are doing. Or maybe even some of you guys not from the US.
We started harvesting on the 27th of September, shelling corn. Started out at around 21-22% moisture. We shelled around 100 acres with the last of it at around 17%. We then tried to move to some later planted corn and the moisture shot to 30%!!  Corn that we shelled averaged around 190 bu/acre. Got ready to switch over to beans, and it set in raining. We haven't harvested since Oct 1. Been raining on and off ever since. It's so wet now, we will more than likely have to put the tracks on the combines.

One of my friends they had some corn at 218 bushels an acre at 19% moisture. Here's a pic of what u don't wanna do!

This definitely what I DON'T want to be doing..... but I'm afraid that is what we WILL be doing.
Sorry I didn't snap any pics so far. At 100 acres, we were just getting started, so I'll still have plenty of time. I'll get some pics and post them. Pics are always cool guys!

I hope for some good pics here, don't be afraid to share, guys!! The farmer I work for is getting started slow, last I heard he's cracked open a couple corn fields at at around 23% or so, just enough to get the dryer going. Now he's moved on to the neighbors beans at the moment. I'm what you call an "all hands on deck" helper so once the steam starts pouring, I'll be out hauling corn, or running a cart, or ripper, or whatever else the day calls for. Really sucks I can't put the time in like I used to, I really enjoy being out there. Anywho, I'll be sure to snap some good pics to share here

I'm currently watchly the farmer next door bring in his crop but the shoot on his equipment must not be set right because its shooting over the trailer and onto the ground, going on 45 minutes now I I would have thought he'd notice the trailer isn't filling up.

When we still farmed before dad bought a Massey 750 we traded work and a neighbor would combine our crops with a IH 1440 he had duals on it , just two wheel drive and buried that thing up to the axles! Took a 986 and our 886 with chains tied between them to pull it out. Surprised the rear axle didn't get ripped off. Then later dad bought a Massey 750 combine muddhogg 4x4 with rice tires. That thing nothing would stop it! It cut ruts thigh deep in creek bottom ground. Hated disking that ground when it dried!

I ain't talked to anyone about the moister their getting off the corn, but they are chopping the beat 60 around here, and a couple got the combines out doing their thing.
A lot of the corn was planted late around here in the spring. We have a few wet areas on our land but haven't seen any extra tractors needed, yet.

Guys around here have been taking the beans off for the last couple weeks, my Uncles chopped a little corn for the silo a couple weeks ago but I haven't seen anyone with a corn head on yet.
I wouldn't mind getting some seat time again but no one I know really needs the help anymore. I used to get a lot of time in during harvest & spring planting. Miss the roar of a turbodiesel at WOT......

Olds: Did the guy ever figure out he was missing the wagon?
Well, still raining here. Going up to the farm this afternoon to put a new Whopper Hopper on one of the combines. Figured it would help be able to make more rounds since we probably won't be able to use the auger cart now.  I'll see if I can snap a couple pic's and post them.
