Some time over the weekend I hope to get a look at a 2086 I have been chasing for a while. All I have so far is a few cell photos and his description of the machine. It is not running and has been sitting for a while although he says it was running when parked. I have never had one of these liquid cooled cadets so I need to know what to look at so I know what I'm getting into. I know that at least I will need a battery, new seat and maybe three tires. He says it may need a power steering hose too. I plastic is OK but there is some damage to the muffler side panel, it is missing a piece near the bottom. Other than the plastic timing gear issue is there any other problem areas I need to look over?

I'm not sure why you're not getting any responses
![]() In response to your inquiry, the 2086 is a somewhat rare beast (from what I've seen). It "suffers" from the same issues all other Cyclops' have (here's a VERY helpful link to common issues and repair procedures for Cyclops machines: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=33244 ). Aside from those, the big issue I know of with the 2086 is the, as you mentioned, plastic timing gear. Once replaced, I've heard nothing but good about these machines. Just make sure to check your rear end bolts, plastic condition, make sure the CV driveshaft has been maintained (greased regularly), etc. Given a fixed plastic gear, you should have a solid, long lasting machine on yours hands ![]() Now, don't forget pics!!

Group 44, thay are great supers if the things like Jimbob said are okay. The Kawi FD620 is a great engine IMHO and they are easy on fuel too. I hope you get it and lets see some pics of it.

I drug it home yesterday, he was asking $850, I paid him $400 because I couldn't hear it run and the unobtainable muffler side plastic is broken. Overall it doesn't look too bad for having 800 hrs. on it. The 54" deck looks pretty good too. Looks like it's got a bad electric fuel pump, it's chattering like crazy but it is not pumping any fuel, I put fresh fuel in the tank and opened the shutoff valves. I did get it to run for a few seconds by shooting a little gas in the carb, it ran long enough to raise and lower the deck, so the hydro seems like it is working. I found a lot of silicone around the hydro adaptor, looks like it had broken and was replaced. After I get it running and make sure there are no other issues with the motor I am going to pull the motor and do the cam upgrade and water pump.

Congrats on the Super, looks to be in pretty good shape! I hope you can get your issues straightened out fairly easily. One thing I will say is while it's apart, make sure you:
Replace all your fuel line, not just the pump Put new grommets in the fuel tank, less than $5 for both Clean and repack the drive shaft CV's with grease, as well as the CV on the steering column Those are just a couple of the more important basics. Good luck, and keep us posted!!

I am trying to order the cam kit but I need the full model number for the engine and the model/serial sticker on the engine is gone . There are a couple of different part numbers for the kit depending on the spec# of the engine. I was going with the Kawasaki kit because it comes with everything needed to do the job. Cub cadet parts suppliers make you order it by the individual part number. Anyone out there with a 2086 that knows the spec numbers for a FD620D Kawasaki in a Cadet?

Small Engine Warehouse says "Original Model: Kawasaki FD620D-AS13".
I can't say if that's true but maybe it will help. Link to most of the things I've found that the Cyclops like. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=33244

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
