Default Cub Cadet model 71

hey guys so on my last haul I had picked up three tractors 2 being cubs . I had free time today and started to mess with my 71 will start with the shape its in which is rough I think, gonna need some welding as the tower has some rot from the battery rubbing and I wouldn't doubt acid. So here are pics when I got it

the air cleaner is very special it was the first Ziploc clear cleaner , you could watch it clean as it ran . I bought a cover on ebay and it just came in so I put it on. she gonna need some new exhaust id say the rusty muffler special is toast . anyone have pics of a nice stack setup on a narrow frame cub , do you need a muffler for the back pressure on these or is straight fine

I purchased the same one and couldn't get the fields compressed enough to get the armature to spin freely. What did you end up doing?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
