Connecting the temp gauge on a 1782
Where are the wires on the temp gauge for my 1782 supposed to be connected? This is a 1996 model and I don't see the gauge listed on the wiring diagram. It has a black wire on the right side of the gauge, as you sit in the seat, that wasn't connected to anything when I got it. I have several things to do to it this fall and making the gauge work is #1 on the list followed by the starter upgrade.

If you have a temp gauge on a 1782 it's a PO mod. 1782's have idiot lights.

Know what..........you're right! I never looked it up in the parts book because I assumed it was original. That is one PO that did a nice job of something. In that case, I'll just replace it and be done.

Post a couple pics maybe we can figure it out. I put gauges in both my 1782 and 2182. 1st pic is the 1782, 2nd is the 2182.

This gauge is almost exactly where the center gauge is on your 1782 is. I like the location because I also like the idiot lights for a little extra security if they work. The low fuel light has saved me some headache a couple times. I still have a hard time remembering to check the fuel level because I'm too used to gassers.

It's electric, but it just might become mechanical now that it isn't anything original.
I also just sent a question to my nearest Kubota dealer about adding a tach. to my 1782. I should know within a couple days if there are parts available to do this. When I have ear plugs or muffs on I have a hard time telling how much I'm working the engine unless it starts smoking.

You sure about that Roland? The electric gauge I have in my 2182 has a lead from the ignition switch that is powered and the sender is basically grounded.
