Only 3 Amps, Do You Have An Ammeter on An 800??
I acquired a machine powered by a Kohler K181 last week, the machine has the same engine as a Cub Cadet 800.
After looking at the battery voltage increase while the engine was running, I looked up the spec of the charging circuit, only 3 amps (36 watts). I am used to the 15 amp charging capability of the larger Kohler K engines. I was wondering if the 800 used the same charging system, if so, there would be little capability of running lights. 3 amps would barely move an ammeter needle,,,,  Maybe the 800 had a special charging system??

IIRC Kohler had several charging systems for their K series engines. There was 3, 15, & 25 amp systems. Cub Cadet always used the 15A version. Seems one could just find a 15A Stator and change it out for the 3A one.
