Where's the button?
I got to my 127 today and tore the front off to get the PTO lever out so I could replace the button. Take a look at that button, or the whats remaining of it. I've never used this for a mowing tractor and I'm glad I didn't need to. Thanks to PA Jeff for the new button and installation suggestion, it went in fine using the vise to press it in. It didn't take much effort to punch the old one out.
I went further down the PTO road and removed the PTO, bearing and collar so I could install the recently procured parts I obtained from Lew. I also used brand new clutch retainer allen bolts, long and short ones. After getting it all back together, I adjusted the engagement lever so that the clutch would stop and start as it should. It all seems to work just fine. Thanks Lew and Jeff!

now i have a question to this "brass button" will it wear down easily and save a bunch of wear on the pto button part? i have a lathe at the shop and would be very happy to install one of those but i guess im kinda worried about the end coming out of the clutch wearing out quick.

When all is adjusted properly, the brass button only sees wear for a moment after you pull on the pto lever.
Rapid/severe wear happens when the pto lever is pulled back in the disengage position and the belt is loose or not on the pto. Always engage the pto when that condition exists.
