Default New addition: 129

Picked up a 129 the other day. This one was bought as a non runner. Changed the points, battery and with a little coaxing she fired up. It is a complete tractor that got let set out for a year because the PPO bought a new tractor. The PTO is a little scary to listen to because it rattles but other than that it purs like a kitten. It is an early tractor made in the 3rd month of production and has suttle differences from the later models. It is a very complete platform for a restoration.

Excellent find on the 129!

It's a great feeling to buy one that someone has discarded, tinker with it a little and find out it's a good running machine.

The 129 is a very popular model so lots of parts readily available in this area for them. Yours looks very much complete, even to the side clutch panels and headlights. Definitely a great candidate for a restoration or a work horse, and Y.S. is right, nothing like hearing that engine come back to life after some tinkering. Glad you scored it!

Fine looking tractor! Are you going to restore it or use it as is?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
