Hi guys,
Been away for a while. Went through the deck on the 1810 in the spring, got it running, then about 3rd mowing it started leaking oil. I'm thinking front seal on the Kohler 18. Parked it, too many irons in the fire for now. And now I just inherited my Uncles 149. My first IH cub!! Better than average condition, but the hydro lift is inoperative. Transmission works fine. So lift is a divorced system from the trans fluid? Is the lift cylinder under the gas tank with its own fluid source? Thanks!

Congrats on the 149! Love mine!
The lift isn't a divorced system from the tranny, same pump. The very first thing to do is change the hytran and filter which may or may not fix your problem, but then its not a variable anymore. |

Good idea, I have no idea when the hytran was last changed. I'll start there. Thanks!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
