Hi all,
I didn't notice till it was too late. But my PTO button came off at some point in time and wore out the pto clutch connection. It also drilled down the back plate to which the button attaches to. But I think that is still usable. Do I need to get a whole new pto clutch? Thanks, Nate

How do you get the wear button off? There is one screw a piece that seems to hold on the PTO Clutch Throw-out Levers. I keep trying to unscrew them but they just turn and nothing else?
![]() Thanks for the help in advance, Nate

You have to take the PTO off the engine to change the button.

When I bought my 147 the PO had lost the wear button and the guy kept running it- destroyed the thrust button, throwout levers, and then the bearing exploded and left half inside the PTO and the other half on the end of the crankshaft. So the wear button has some significance.

Because each of those three lever screws has two hex nuts on the backside that you have to put a wrench on.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
