Default 1450 engine ??

I have a 1450 I am thinking of parting out. My question is about putting that engine in a 149. One of my 149's is running pretty rough and would like to swap the engine tins , flywheel , etc. from the 149 over to the 1450 motor. Is this an option? I am assuming everything will swap back and forth between the two engines.

Jeff

Motor from your 1450 will go right in. Just change the drive hub on the flywheel side, and a little bit of electrical, add a pto switch, and it will bolt right in. I put a k341 (16 horse out of a 1650) in a 149. Easy job. Takes about 2 hours. Good luck! Oh ya, you will need to change the big cast iron hood mount. You need the wide one from the 1450 so the muffler will work

Thanks. I figured everything would swap over. I was going to swap the clutches , starters and everything to keep the 149 looking closer to original. Mine are all 129's and 149's and don't have a use for the electric clutch or exhaust set up , etc.

I am not too sure about changing the pto, flywheel or s/g, because I just bolted mine in. I'm sorry I don't know if it will work or not, but maybe someone who knows more can come along and tell you what will work. Ihnick, I did not change anything but the drive hub.

Default 1450 Engine

I change my 169 over to the alternator system some 15 years ago and was I ever glad. I live in Michigan (read snowy and cold) and had to warm up the tractor up with a torpedo heater for 10-15 mins to get it to turn over sufficiently to start in the winter time. I also changed the bearing plate to include the stator for the alternator. You will need to remove the stator or change the bearing plate for clearance under the 149 flywheel. Other than the exhaust elbow, all the controls (choke, throttle, and governor), you'll have to switch carbs for the choke functions.

Good Luck and happy cubbing!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
