Hi all,
I am long time LGT collector. Have: JD M Ferguson TO30 CCO CC100 CC124 Stock Puller JD 110H JD140H3 JD 318 & now the 3205, It has 212 hrs. & is very clean for a 13/14 y.o. machine. Came w/ a 56 deck. I paid $1900... Is that too much? I thought it was a steal at the time but after more research, it seems about right. I have cleaned it all up and serviced as needed. One ? I have is about the Kows w/ the bad cam gear. What years were the bad ones. What are symptoms? I do not perceive any problems from the engine, really runs sweet. Comments?? Do not like how deck does not hang on tractor when mowing, ie deck rides on wheels/rollers. Is there a way around that? Some way to add a mechanical stop to lift. Guess that's all for now. Ken B |

Ken, welcome to OCC. I think what you paid is a fair price if it is in good shape. Deere used the same engine in their machines too. I'm not 100% sure but I think the 3205 Kawi engines have the metal cam gear and not the plastic ones. I researched it a bunch and I think they fail around 700+ hours but ya never know until it goes. I also heard that it will not destroy the motor but it will just shut off. If your deck is set up properly it will give a fine cut. Why don't you like it riding on the rollers and front casters?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
