Default Looking at Cub 122

Hi everyone I am new to the Cub scene. I was looking at a 1966? Cub 122 (owner not 100% sure of the year) He sandblasted the frame and repainted the whole machine. Wheels, hood, seat, all look new. Has a front pto and two headlights up front that work nice. Took it for a test drive and it ran pretty good. Popped a little when cold but that went away when it warmed up. Now here is the big question I have. How hard is it to find and install a mower deck on one of these? It never had one the guy told me. I would love to pick it up but can't justify it not having a mower deck. Again thanks for all the help

Welcome to OCC. Hope you get the 122. Pics are appreciated. Does it have the mule drive/brackets to mount the deck? You can find older decks and mules easily. There are people on here that are near you that have many of them. Put an ad in the wanted section and you will get responses. Good luck

Thanks I can link to the craigslist ad but was not sure if that was allowed here. I honestly have no idea if it has the brackets or not on it. I also would have no idea how to install it or level it to cut right. I have a feeling I need to do a lot of reading

Here's the other problem. It might be a bit pricey. Not really sure what there worth but when I say it is clean I couldn't find any rust anywhere.

Definitely a repaint. Don't care for the yellow floor boards, black grill and yellow hood ornament. My 2 cents.
But.... new tires and overall looks ok, but also depends on the price. 122's are a great tractor

That's on Craigslist here on Long Island, not worth the $700 IMHO, maybe $500, I don't care for the black grill, yellow floor boards and hood ornament either Todd.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
