Instead of hijacking other threads here is mine. Thanks to Steved and Sam mac for their threads and insight on the PTO. Just got the thing off. WD-40 actually worked for me. There were 3 short and 3 long, 1/8 allen head set screws. Once I got them loose I just bumped it with a rubber mallet and it came right off
![]() The snap ring looks to be toast, and the clutch bearing feels like it's got rocks for bearings! Here's some pics:

Good work. You can strip the rust off of the plates and sand them down.

I wasn't sure if it needed to be turned on a lathe or not. Didn't think it would hurt it though. Need a new clutch bearing and snap ring. About to go back out and see what kind of damage I can do to the rust.

Turning the plate in a lathe would be the best way to do it.

Think I need something stronger than WD-40 for the clutch bearing locking collar, started to bend my allen wrench
![]() Hit all of it with a sanding disc. There is a lot of pitting on the pressure plate, and I have no way to grind it "true" without a lathe. ![]()

Looks like you need a new plate, I wondered if you can flip them over and true up that side?

I can't remember the last time I used WD 40 for anything. Once I discovered PB blaster I never used another can of WD.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
