I'm just going to throw this out there, so bear with me. I currently have a Lt1050 which I use to cut my 4 acres with and pull a trailer around to pick up fallen limbs, rocks etc. It's pretty rough ground here in MO. but I like the tractor. Hindsight being 20-20 I would have gotten a tractor with some ground engaging abilities. Now I view a lot of the posts here and see that many have older Cubs with rear blades and other attachments. I don't really need something with a front end loader, but I would like the option, if possible on a small tractor. I plan on keeping the LT 1050 until it dies, but I take quite good care of it and I don't see that happening for a while. So...If I wanted a good used model, age not important, which would some of you, or any of you reccomend? I see several models out there and I know nothing about the older Cubs but the fact that they have the power I am looking for is very appealing to me. I want something that I can use a box blade with, perhaps pull a finish or rough cut mower and do some hauling and be able to move a bit of dirt and gravel. I appreciate any advice or direction you can give me.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
