Yes....
But, just touch the wire to the solenoid post. Don't hook it up. |

yea just to see if the solenoid kicks in.
right now via key switch it does not even click. But if I turn ignition on and jump positive to the big terminal on the start-gen, I can start and run. And turnoff via ign. switch. |

Sounds like you have an issue with start only circuit, possibly brake switch and or connections. Lew had a cool test if you don't have a meter, put an automotive style spade fuse like a 15 amp in the wires after you disconnect them from the brs. It jumps them out safely if you are a jumper kind of guy

brake switch works per meter.
I have a pointed end test light to for stabbing wires or finger when it slips. P.O. installed a red dash light to show if key is on. Key is getting power per the light. Charge gauge moves a bit. It has the very frayed cotton insulation wires. I think a wire too or from the brake switch is broken. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
