After a long Time without Internet, I'm back here. Someone perhaps know the little red 128 Cub Cadet, that I purchased last Year. I sold it to a Friend and we repaired the Engine.
The first Surprise was the wrong Motor in it. Few Weeks ago, I checked the Transmission Oil of the Gear Box, and it looks not well. So I thought, it will be good the open the Rear End Cover Plate. After that was done, I saw some Teeth and Parts, from some Tooth wheels. Last Week, I had a little Time and parted the Transmission, and I saw the next Surprise, no Tooth wheels damaged, no Bearing damaged, all OK, only one Shifter Fork was broken. I don't know from where the Parts are??? My Friend want to have a faster Cub, does someone know, what I can do with the Trans to make it a little faster? mfg Georg

Welcome back you were missed. I recall a recent post that asked the same speed question and the consensis was there is nothing to be done to speed up the ground speed by changing gears in the transmission.

I don't know anything about changing these gears Georg, as I have never done it, but a guy who uses his cub as a puller told me that he will gladly buy any manual transmission from a cub that I can bring him from the '60's cubs. I asked about if they needed to be working or not and he said that he didn't care because he replaces the gears with gears from a Dodge Dart rear end. I'm not a puller, so I don't know what that does, but it might speed it up more...maybe?

Glad to have you back, I enjoy hearing from your side of the pond.
Yes, you can make gear changes in the reduction gears and pinion to make your ground speed faster. Hopefully some of the pullers will be along to help guide you in the right direction.

That was only in reverse. MWSC has faster gears, like cjrolke mentioned. Georg, They are kind of pricey, and I don't know how much faster your friend wants to go, but they are offered. There are several gear combinations you can run, but with most combinations, you will lose your slower working gears. If he does any work like using a blade or a tiller, you would probably be better off leaving it alone. Here is the link to their page: http://www.mcssl.com/store/midwestsu...nsmssion-parts |

Yesterday, i had Time to work to the Transmission of the Cub. My Friend and his Son helped me.
We tooked the old Toothwheels for it, no change in Trannsmission Speed. We changed the Axle Oil Seal Rings, and replaced the Gaskets with Fluid. mfg Georg

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
