Right now I have a 42" blade on my cub cadet 100, and I would like to get a blower for it. Will the qa42 work?

Yes, the QA42 is a listed attachment for the 100.

I wouldn't recommend it. A 10 hp doesn't have the power to make good use of the 42" snow thrower. I recommend nothing less than the 12 hp. Of course it depends on the depth of your snow, but if there is enough snow to use the QA42, then there is enough snow to warrant greater hp from a K301.
Just my $0.01, since I am too poor to give my $0.02... Cub Cadet 123

I will say a 10 hp is gonna be working awfully hard, and you are going to have to go slow.
I have a strong M-18 and I can pull it down to stall with a 42A if I am not carefull. You can take partial cuts. |

I appreciate the opinions. I kind of figured it would be a little much for a 10 horse. I might look into getting another cub such as a 149 with a blower. The last thing I want to do is wear out my 100, because my great-grandpa bought it new in '64 and means a lot to me.

Why not a qa36? It's better sized for 10 hp and I assume it is the same mount?

Same mount. Either a QA36 or QA36A will work. ( substitute 42 for wider thrower )

I might have too see if I can find a 36, the reason I asked about a qa42 is I found one for sale in my area that was cheap.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
