Hey guys, first of all, I'm sorry the pics are sideways. I cant figure out how to flip them. ( any help on that would be appreciated). Anyway, I just got this starter and I see a hole on the back of the starter on the top that seems to go all the way to the inside of the starter. I have heard that some of these need to be lubricated but I am not sure if that is correct and if it is then what do I use and what is the frequency? Also, I have to keep it covered outside all year long and I am wondering if that hole should be covered? Thanks for any help, Mark

![]() Edit: So I'm guessing this applies to all starter/generators? I've got a 129 with a 14hp Kohler transplant and the starter turns kinda slow, I've never lubed it so I figure it might be worth a shot? :-/

The ones on the original were able to be oiled. All the others were sealed. You can buy caps for the one you have.

Thanks for the compliment on the paint job CubCadet123! It's really more of a 5 footer though. The closer you get the more mistakes you can see. I used spray cans and it was the first time I tried painting one. I am happy with it though. Thanks also for the info about the lube. I will get a rubber cap for it next day I'm off. It's turning over and starting great so I want to keep it that way! Thanks again,Mark

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
