Default New guy with an Original and 2072

I just got my account activated here so I can finally post and see pictures others have posted.

I'm in Southern Indiana and recently bought a 2072 and two Originals for old times sake. After WW2, my Grandfather worked at and retired from International Harvester in Louisville, KY. I grew up next door to him and he always had a couple cadets around the farm. I have the receipts and manuals for most of the cubs he purchased, beginning in 1961. He certainly took advantage of his 25% discount off every IH cub and implement. The first tractor I used was the 149, followed by the 1811. Those were my 4 wheelers growing up.

Anyway, all those cubs were traded in or sold after he passed and there were none left on the farm. I thought it would be nice to find a couple to bring back. I bought an O that I am currently restoring and a 2072 to do some mowing and towing. Just driving it brings back lots of memories of the countless hours I spent on one as a kid. Please bear with me as I'm likely to have lots of questions as I work with my new old toys.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
