Okay guys, need some learnin'. Outside of years manufactured and esthetics what is the differences between the 149 and the 1450.
There's a 1450 close to me that has a deck and front blade for sale. Somewhat pricey however. Kenneth |

Basically.... tinwork, charging and starting system. That's about it. The 1450 was the 149's replacement model in the new series.
![]() That being said.... I'm not saying that all the parts are interchangeable. (But I believe quite a few are.) |

Not to take away anything from 1450 owners, but the 149 has traditionally been a more collectible machine.
As a workhorse, the 1450 will hoss around with the best of 'em. ![]() |

Also if the 1450 has all its original style muffler and shieldings it is also a little bit quieter to run.

The 1450 has the electric pto and the 149 has the mechanical pto clutch.

also I think some of the 1450s had a hydro output on the front for a power angle plow and such.

Also, the shift lever on a 149 is on the left, where a 1450 is on the right.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
