Default 782 Carb trouble

Hello again all I've been slowly fixing my 782 up, last night I went out and pulled the air cleaner off only to see raw gas puddled down the throat of the carb (it sat for a week). I've been shutting the fuel off under the tank (although I'm not entirely sure that valve works either). Anyway it is a Walbro carb...which after reading on here isn't the preferred carb.

I have another carb from my Uncle's old 782 that threw a rod.....so I went and pulled it off today, thinking I'd rebuild it and use it.....it is a Kohler carb- only to find out that when the engine grenaded itself shrapnel hit the carb bowl and dented it.

My question is, does Cub offer a replacement bowl? I looked on partstree.com, under 782 carb section, I see part# KH-235448- is this a bowl for a Kohler or a Walbro? I'd hate to order it to be wrong. With the Walbro & Kohler I have here they don't appear interchangeable.

Thanks for the help.

IF.....you are interested, Kirk Engines ( Kirk ) sells Steel Carb Bowls instead of the OEM aluminum ones. Go to the link and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
