Default IH CC Production Numbers

First off I was excited to get Oscar H. Will III book, 50 Years of CUB Cadet because it has total production numbers. I was disappointed that not all the models had production numbers. In his book he referenced http://www.wisconsinhistory.org, McCormick - International Harvester Collection. So I went to the web site and did my own research using the plant production reports and compiled my own list. Some match Oscar’s numbers and some don’t. For example the model 169 had a manufacturing order of 4005 but only produced 3977.

1 800 2345
2 169 3977
3 73 7678
4 86 8489
5 72 9881
6 1200 10535
7 1000 10559
8 107 10903
9 109 10943
10 71 11072

I didn't realize I had one of the rarest Cub Cadets, a 1976 800.

Definitely gotta do some restoration over the winter.

The 126 is number three on the list with 5,XXX units made (can't remember the exact number off the top of my head). The known production number for the 169 is 4005. Of course, I wasn't there counting them as they went down the line................

Cool list, now we need one with MTD production numbers, I've heard it's rare but I'm interested to see where my 1050 falls.

1050 is one of the rarest MTD models. The list is

1. 1335 (possibly never even built)
2. 2072 with Onan B48G engine
3. 1050

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
