Hello all just wanted to introduce myself, I found this board by accident last week when I was looking at a 782 with an inop brake (I joined and started a post last week on the subject). Anyway I ended up buying the 782 this past weekend, needs some tlc but with help from the board here I hope to have it mechanically sound this winter, and maybe paint in the spring.
Cub.jpg Got the brake functional...just a little adjustment. Next up is the steering, quite a bit of play in it, but I've been reading up on that so I think that shouldn't be too tough. Got a seat on the way, needs work on the lights (blew the little glass fuse- where do you get those anymore?), and the PO had balloon tires on front, so I think I may swap those out. Anyway, this is around the 10th Cub Cadet between my Dad and I, I inherited a 782 years ago but it was a wreck, hopefully there's something left to help this one. Dad has an 1811, 1650, 1250, 149, 147(not 100% sure on that one) 123, 122 (2), and his first, a 100. I got this 782 with a 50C deck and a snow blade, think I'm going to swap it for a 44C though, my yard is pretty small. |

Hello and welcome! Good looking 782 you have there! The steerings not hard to rebuild , think the info is on this site. As for the fuses, walmart or any auto supply store should have them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
