My current Snapper LT12533 just doesn't like to go up hills any more and doesn't like to pull even an empty cart. I think I over worked it one too many times. It's already been in the shop for tranny work twice.
But I have a few questions & concerns. I'm thinking of the 2542 garden tractor. My property is 1/2 hills and I use it to cut grass, haul firewood, mulch & occasionally topsoil. First, in the attachments listed for this tractor there isn't shown a cart to haul stuff. Not that I need one but is there a hitch in the back like most tractors? Second, it has a 42 inch cutting width but does anyone know the overall width of the tractor? I'm concerned that it won't fit in my shed..... 48" door opening. Third, it's states that a mulch kit is standard. What exactly is the mulch kit? Does it mulch ok?

It has a hitch. It should do a good job mulching. You'll probably have to lift that black discharge chute up to get it through the door but the deck itself should fit. They don't make the discharde side of the deck as long/large as they used to.

And CCC usta offer a2 wheel dump cart - dunno why they dropped it form their website.
Anyway, a good Agrifab or even a sears dump cart or such should do what you want... BTW. the 2542 has a much beefier hydro xmission - yer hills should not be a problem as long as you're safe...

I also use an 550lb lawn roller, maybe that's what did in my Snapper LT.

BTW - even on the new cc 2542 - keep thet engine rpm up at full throttle when working & feather yer ground speed as wanted thru the xmission controls. That'll allow the xmission cooling fan to best do it's thing of keeping things cool. Also, blow crap out from under there with compressed air or leaf blower every time you go to put the machine up - a clean xmission hsg is an easier to keep cool xmission hsg. Will reduce/eliminate them aggravating trips to the service shop.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
