Default Cub Cadet Drive System Fluid Plus 739-3121

I went to the Cub Cadet dealer and they said that this is the fluid I need for my 1450 hydro oil. I don't see the HY-TRAN I was expecting to see, so I passed on it until I got some feedback from you guys. I have gone through a bunch of post and and I would be good if there was some mention on it that referenced HY-TRAN. The salesman also stated something that I have heard from another supplier about this being 20W-50 synthetic oil. Does anyone here have some details. I don't mind spending the money as long as it is the right stuff. Thanks in advance.

Don

Or if all you have is a New Holland dealer local (like I do), Master-tran is the exact same thing as Hy-tran but with a New Holland label.

As far as other fluids aside from what was recommended above go, just pick a good quality fluid. You don't HAVE to have hy-tran/master-tran but in the long run, you get what you pay for. Biggest different is it can absorb liquid, saving potential wear and tare on your transmission.

I used a different type of fluid in my gear 1050 and it works just fine but next fluid change, I want to go back to master-tran just for peace of mind. Other people have had good luck with Tractor Supply brand fluid. It's not like putting a different fluid in your machine will make it go boom, just use good judgement and you should be fine

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
