482 repower engine
Im picking up a red cub 482 without an engine and was wondering if anybody knew what good bolt in engine replacements were good? Im looking for the best overall recommended engine with the least amount of cutting frame and hood to fit. Thanks

The 482 came with a single cylinder Briggs , it didn't bolt directly to the plate , it used "risers" that the Briggs bolted to.
The single cylinder Kohler also used the "risers" , ala 1282 and whatever other Cubs used the single cylinder. The 1050 Cub used a differnt mount setup for its Kohler. Kt's , Magnums , and Commands will bolt in and you may be able to use the mounting plate you have , it should have differnt placed holes in it for different engines. Although these engines used spacers to raise the engine , and there will be easy wiring and driveshaft mods. Pics are straight from Partstree , a good resource for info... Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
