My uncle just dropped this photo off to me and I'm very excited because it is a picture of me when I was about 3 years old. For years my brothers and I wondered what number cub cadet our dad had when we were younger but never knew a picture existed. Surprise....here it is! I think it is a 103, but I'm not for sure.....I don't even know if cub made a 103. Can anyone help me positively ID this? I am as excited as if I bought another cub!
Thanks in advance.... Cub Cadet 123

Either a 106 or 126. I'd vote for the 106 as well, especially since you remember it as a "103". Neat old pic!!

I believe it is a 106 . My brother said it was a 10 hp engine....and you can see the 10- on the side of the hood. It was a gear drive, and the picture shows the lip on the fender, so it wasn't a 104 ....therefore, I believe it to be a 106.
I was able to buy my dad's second cub cadet-a123 after my dad passed, but it doesn't have as many or as profound of memories as this one...the 106. So now, the quest is on to find and purchase my dad's 106....the one that I remember him pulling me and my two brothers and two sisters in a red trailer around in. Interesting, I never remember the front blade on the cub, but the picture shows the undercarriage of a front blade on it. Thank you, everyone for your help and kind comments. Cub Cadet 123

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
